- The Art
- We decided to approach our submarine creatively
according to the location where it would be placed (a very fun and inviting
restaurant), the personality of the business owner (a big friendly
personality, Richard Conine) and Milford's link to the sea (exotic sea life
under the rule of King Neptune). We all got together and developed a series
of sketches and ideas that would best represent our challenge. As a team we
drew out various themes onto the submarine and each person worked to develop
a "painterly" style that would best represent the fine arts. Our
biggest challenge was to achieve a unified look. We feel we succeeded and
had great fun doing so.
- Visual Arts Committee
- The Artist
- The Visual Arts Committee was one of the first
committees formed when the Milford Fine Arts Council was founded in 1971. A
very active group, they boast a membership of amateur and professional
artists as well as appreciators of the arts. Artists have been attracted to
Milford over the years because of the committee's prestigious annual Juried
Art Exhibit as well as their workshops and special events. Since 1976 the
committee has been responsible for the purchase and upkeep of Milford's
Permanent Art Collection which now totals more than 70 pieces of art. The
group meets monthly and is always open for people to join in their good
times.
