#12 "Suburbia"

The Art
I've always thought of myself as a typical American baby boomer from the Midwest, eating lots of corn on the cob and apple pie. When I was in high school we moved east to Suburbia, the land of "soccer moms," swimming pools and overindulged children. This sculptural piece is my nervously light-hearted way of poking fun at this American idea.
- Bill Meddick
The Artist
Bill studied painting at the Pratt Institute under Bove, Riggopolus and Montague. He began his professional career as a scenic apprentice working on numerous Broadway and off-Broadway productions throughout CT and NY while exhibiting his paintings in shows throughout the area. He served as Artist in Residence in Alton, NH and in Milford, CT where he also worked as a painting instructor. Since 1984 Bill has served as the Executive Director of the Milford Fine Arts Council, a part time position that allows him to pursue his painting. Bill's work has been exhibited at the Int'l Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI, at the CT Academy of Fine Arts in Mystic, at the University of New Haven, the Munson Gallery, and at the New England Exhibitions, Silvermine, CT.
