#10 "Low Tide"
- The Art
- I like to express through motion, which created a
bit of a problem when I looked at the submarine form. First throught: What
the heck to do with a giant pickle? Then I set the hull in different
positions, and the idea hit me when the sub hit the floor. Low tide, and the
legs were born. As instruments of war subs are terrible, but to explore the
ocean floor they are great, and I had great fun making Low
Tide.
- Joe Demarco
- The Artist
- A self-taught sculptor, Joe describes himself as
"intrigued with so-called junk and with finding a use for it." He
loves the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and feels
that his work allows the beholder to find that beauty, moving from "God,
what junk!" to "God, that's great!." Joe believes that all
things are of beauty. "All we have to do is allow ourselves to behold
that beauty."
