#8 "Ceci n'est pas une Palomine"
- The Art
- If a fishing lure were as big as a submarine, what
would you be fishing for? What could be more surreal than living under water
for weeks/months at a time in a vessel constructed of steel? Ceci n'est pas
une Palomine is the crash between surrealism and fishing! Magritte's work
"Ceci n'est pas une pipe" and a prized "palomine" lure from
my collection of antique fishing tackle offered up the inspiration for this
project. This is not a sub, this is art!
- Val Kropwinicki
- The Artist
- With his B.F.A. cum laude from LIU's Southampton
College in hand Val entered the world of steel fabrication. He has done
welding, in-field erecting as well as trade show displays and product
catalogs. For almost a decade Val has served as creative director and
production manager of VKS, where he designs and fabricates steel products
from concept to finished piece. His portfolio includes imaginative
sculpture, furniture and architechturals, ranging from floor-standing
candelabra to a biker bar complete with handlebars and streamers.
