#1 "Siren"
- The Art
- A friend from Nigeria told me a long story complete
with a sing-along chorus about a Deer Woman. He said, "she transformed
herself and hid in the complexion of a deer.#34; I love that there are so
many different woman characters in world folklore who transform, grant
wishes, and disappear into myth. When the Milford Fine Arts Council asked me
to transform a submarine, I immediately thought of sea sirens and mermaids.
After that it was all about chicken wire, plaster cloth, and paint.
